‘Huh!’ said Olivia. ‘And you’re supposed to be St. Egbert’s School’s resident detective genius? We’ve already looked in the little fishy tunnel things. He’s not there.’
‘Oh,’ I said. ‘Ah.’
‘And we’ve searched the room. He’s not anywhere to be found.’
Hmmm. I took a careful look at the room. Here’s what was in it:
1. The shelving unit with the fishtank in the middle. Below the tank, four shelves full of books. Below the tank, three drawers.
2. In front of the unit, a couple of comfy armchairs.
3. Beside one of the chairs, a magazine rack overflowing with newspapers. Beside the other, a large and rather ugly metal sculpture of a dog. (Honestly, what some people have in their houses...!)
4. On the opposite side of the room, a TV sitting on top of a wooden stand. Under the stand, a DVD player and a pile of DVD cases.
5. Behind the TV, a wide window, On the window ledge, several potted plants, one or two of them looking a bit dried up. |
Looking around, I could spot three possible places for Rupert to have ended up, assuming he’d jumped out of the tank.
Can you?
